The latest ASSIST workforce survey results are now available.
The survey, carried out for ASSIST by Tribal Consulting and with support from NHS Connecting for health, confirms continuing shortages of programme and project managers, systems and business analysts, clinical coders and information analysts. Pay is a major factor, linked to Agenda for Change.
Key recommendations include: action to aid recruitment, including Agenda for Change recruitment premia and marketing the wider benefits of working in the NHS; focussed informatics workforce planning and support for development; and the formal professionalisation and accreditation of informatics specialists. The survey findings and recommendations have already been input to the national Informatics Review, led until recently by Professor Matthew Swindells.
