Synopsis:

The presentation will define what Software Asset Management is and why it is more than just a part of ITIL Service Asset & Configuration Management (SACM) - rather, it is aligned to the whole service management lifecycle. It will show how they benefit each other at department, operation and corporation level. The ISO 19770-1 standard for SAM will be reviewed and mapped against ITIL V3.

It will clarify job roles and responsibilities, service catalogues, service introduction and the integration of people processes and technology. It will review the following:

  • ISO 19770-1 and ITIL V3 mapping
  • The asset management lifecycle
  • Data gathering and modelling
  • Relevance of all of the service management lifecycle functions to SAM
  • Software in the service catalogue and portfolio

Ian’s philosophy is to ensure that SAM processes integrate with the service management processes to deliver highly effective SAM and reduce risk by maintaining software license compliance. All of Ian’s engagements are conducted in line with the ISO 19770-1 SAM standard and the ITIL V3 framework.
