Description:

A look at the leJOS project which brings the Java programming language to the Lego Mindstorms platform. The event will cover:

  • A brief history of Lego robotics
  • The leJOS project - bringing Java to a small platform
  • Robotics APIs - more than just remote control
  • So what can you do with it? Some examples.

Speaker Bio:

Andy Shaw is an Engineering Director working on Desktop Virtualization products for Oracle in the UK. He has been involved with a wide range of technologies over the last 30 years, including, operating systems, programming languages, security and remote access.

In the real world Andy has been using very small computers to control models and robots for many years. As part of the open source leJOS project he gets to bring Java to his all time favourite toy...Lego!
