Synopsis:

This is a joint event with the IET Kent Network.

Moodle is a Course Management System (CMS), also known as a Learning Management System (LMS) or Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). It is a free web application that educators can use to create effective online learning sites. The University of Kent has successfully deployed Moodle to serve the needs of around 2000 academic staff teaching 16,000 students. This talk will introduce Moodle, its features, and some of the technical aspects of its deployment. It is aimed at anyone interested in understanding how to use or deploy this popular online course management system.

Speaker:

Stephen Ogden is a Professional Member of the British Computer Society and Certified Member of the Association for Learning Technology. He works as a Faculty Learning Technologist in the Curriculum and Educational Development team at Kent University's Unit for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching. He has nearly 10 years experience in advising academics on the latest technologies they need to be using in order to deliver rich and engaging teaching material.
