The next in our popular and unique series of Spring Schools is on the challenging area of Project Start-up. For many project managers this is an extremely critical phase of any programme because if the objectives, funding and commitment of all stakeholders are not fully in place and understood, the whole programme may be doomed from the start. We want to minimise the exposure of the project manager in this situation and have lined up a highly respected team of presenters to share their experience during the four weeks of the school over four Wednesday evenings in March 2015. Each evening, light refreshments will be provided and also a networking opportunity after the presentations with wine and soft drinks.

About the speaker:

Karim Hyatt will concentrate on internal factors and related processes dealing with the team, suppliers and other stakeholders, affecting project start-up. His broad background, and experience of focusing on practical ways of getting the team and organisation right at project start-up, will provide plenty of food for thought for attendees. Karim works from the premise that the first 100 days are critical and can make or break your programme. This talk looks at the processes, but also the psychology of adding and motivating teams.

Karim has over 30 years of experience in software product development and 11 years as an interim Chief Technical Officer. He has been involved with product development in Finance, Manufacturing, Tourism & Leisure, Retail and communications with time equally spent between FTSE 100 companies and start-ups. He is passionate about software development best practice and how to effectively integrate teams in various European and world-wide locations. He has also specialised in company turnaround, M&A due diligence and executive coaching.
