Everybody recognises the challenges and there is no doubt about the desire for change, but doing the day-job differently is tough.

Recent advances in understanding about how the brain works cast the challenges of managing projects and influencing change in a very different light.

Carole’s aim in this session is to give you a flavour of what is now known about how the brain works and to use this as springboard for discussion and learning from each other.

She won’t be bringing case studies to illustrate best practice, or a mass of theoretical content.

She will be inviting you to reflect on your own situation and experiences and to consider the implications - for you as a project professional and for project management as a discipline.

This event is suitable for all, from teams, such as IT project teams and virtual teams to those interested in how the brain works.

About Carole

Carole OsterweilCarole Osterweil is back by popular demand after wowing a joint audience of the BCS and CMI/IC last year with practical advice on how new insights into how our brains actually function can be applied to improving team performance.

With a CV that includes programme management in the NHS, oil & gas industries, IT and pharmaceutical sectors and over 16 years as a consultant and faculty lead at Ashridge Business School, Carole believes that successful project delivery cannot be separated from project leadership.

This conviction informs her work as a consultant to directors and project delivery teams who want improved productivity and less stress. Carole gets results by putting the achievement of project goals centre stage and using her insight into human psychology and understanding of change processes to address the people and organisation issues that undermine effective delivery.

Unusually for someone who started out as a technology graduate, Carole has trained in psychotherapy, gained a Cranfield MBA and been an accredited executive coach since 2003.

She has also co-authored a number of publications, notably
