Abstract

Rachel Burnett will discuss current developments which affect your work as IT professionals. She will suggest some practical ways of keeping on the right side of IT law.

Speaker

Rachel Burnett was President of the BCS 2007-2008. She is a solicitor with her own legal practice, providing commercial legal services in all IT-related matters. She was formerly a partner in City of London law firms specialising in IT and intellectual property. Before her legal career Rachel was an IT professional in systems development and project management. Her published books include Outsourcing IT: the Legal Aspects - Planning, Contracting, Managing & the Law; Drafting & Negotiating Computer Contracts; and the continuing series of IT Law Guides for the Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Rachel is a graduate of Exeter University and has been awarded an honorary doctorate from Southampton Solent University. She is an associate lecturer with the Open University.
