The fourth industrial revolution is with us. A key enabler of this digital change has been attributed to the Internet of things. However, organisations still struggle to adopt these key technologies; whilst it is widely seen as disruptive, multiple businesses are struggling to develop the right ecosystem to ensure client adoption and success.

Charles will discuss how the ecosystem is essential to this revolution. How small, medium and large businesses can develop a ‘win-win’ economy and how IBM is working with multiple SME vendors to develop a shared servitised revenue scheme and transition them from a traditional capex to an ‘as a service model’.

Julian Tait will then talk about how our cities can be IoT enabled and how solutions and products need to be designed with and around the people who use them for them to be a success. Consent, standards, openness and governance need to be at the forefront of our thinking to avoid the risk of technology coming before people with all the problems that follow.

We are then pleased to welcome David Bailey who is the Head of Vodafone Public Sector IOT. David will share how IoT is impacting Vodafone as a business and driving change going forwards.

Steve Hilton will then investigate the rise of the intelligent personal assistant, specifically focussing on how Alexa-powered Echo and Echo Dot grew to be the best-selling products across Amazon last year.
