Exciting opportunities have arisen for Chief Examiner and Examination Writers with teaching and assessment experience to assist us in the development of exams for the new BCS Level 1/2 Certificate in Digital Literacy.

Chief Examiner

The Chief Examiner will be responsible for ensuring that examinations for the BCS Level 1/2 Certificate in Digital Literacy meet specification requirements and maintain standards on an ongoing basis.

The role will require approximately 100 days per year and includes the following responsibilities:

  • Coordinating the quality assurance of all examination materials
  • Providing direction to Product Management and Development teams on examination design and content
  • Reviewing examination materials on a scheduled basis
  • Conducting data analysis (including candidate response and mark allocation) for reporting and providing feedback as part of scheduled examination reviews
  • Lead training events for the marking team to ensure good practice around quality, standards, communication and maintaining professional relevance
  • Ensuring standardisation across the marking team

Examination writers

Examination writers will be responsible for creating, reviewing and quality assuring examination questions for the BCS Level 1/2 Certificate in Digital Literacy. This

The role includes the following responsibilities:

  • Produce high quality examination papers that are fair and robust and adhere to the requirements of the specification.
  • Produce questions in accordance with BCS brief, qualification specification and additional guidance from BCS.
  • Ensure questions and marking instructions are of a suitable standard in terms of validity, reliability, accuracy, content, degree of difficulty, spelling and grammar.
  • Complete BCS quality assurance checklist for each question written.
  • Classify questions according to the relevant assessment criteria and assessment task type, and where appropriate, provide evidence for this classification.
  • Develop clear and accurate mark schemes for each question which support reliable marking.
