Zizo wins the UK IT Industry's 'Business IT Innovation of the Year' Award

Strategic cloud database management platform, Zizo, has won the prestigious title of 'Business IT Innovation of the Year' at this year's BCS and Computing UK IT Industry Awards.

Seen as the benchmark for outstanding performance throughout the UK computing industry, the awards recognise the contributions of individuals, projects, organisations and technologies to IT in the past twelve months.

Both developed and marketed in the UK, Zizo was conceived to meet the challenges of data analytics. It allows organisations to quickly and easily get value from their data and gain insight into performance across the business; from operational and financial through to commercial, digital or social. By using the platform, no hardware, software, set-up costs or training are needed, so organisations are effectively able to rent the solution to suit their individual requirements.

Zizo wants to change the face of data and this has already been noticed by international companies including, Dell and Intel. This year, it was selected to join Dell’s burgeoning Service Provider Partner programme in recognition of its standing as a promising technology provider that delivers large scale solutions in a new and unique way. As part of the new agreement, the Zizo platform will be bolstered with data centre hardware technology, supported by Dell.

What’s more, the solution is now running solely on Intel’s E7 Xeon Processors, which provides exceptional performance and scalability for real-time analytics operating on multi-terabyte and even petabyte-scale datasets. Zizo has also recently broken into the cognitive analytics space as an IBM Watson Analytics partner.

From initially being announced as finalists in September and then meeting with the judges, this award means a lot to Zizo, as its Chairman, Peter Ruffley, explains: ‘We have always wanted to push the boundaries of our cutting edge technical capability, visualisation and databases, and are doing new things with our customers that have been considered unachievable to date.’

One of Zizo's largest customers wanted to improve the quality of its service across their parcel delivery business, while improving efficiency and reducing costs. With more than 500 users, across all levels of the business, on the same platform from the CEO to Depot Manager, it has billions of parcel tracks available to view over the web through a bespoke application. Using Zizo the customer saved £200,000 in the first week of the project going live, and is becoming more profitable with data that enables the company to have more informed sales meetings.

Peter continues: ‘We would like to thank BCS and Computing, and we are elated to be presented with the Business Innovation in IT award and have the opportunity to be among the UK's elite in technology and IT.
