The Data Centre Specialist Group within the BCS was established to focus on the issues and best practice around the design, build and operation of data centres and the ICT platforms they house.

One of the big topics we are grappling with falls into the subject area fast becoming known as "Green IT". Typically the data centre environment is where the issues of energy consumption, energy efficiency and business demands collide and create problems for many businesses.

Today the DCSG being only three months old has over seventy members most of whom have something to say about what this area of technology can do to help solve the issues.

Zahl Limbuwala, Chairman of the DCSG will present at a high level the scale of the issue for the IT industry and some of the work the DCSG has already begun in this area.
