The Professional Contract Group (PCG) has developed a scheme that will allow freelancers from every sector to gain this prestigious certification of excellence in service quality. There are presently no affordable quality standards that exist to cover the growing freelance sector that addresses the needs of end-user clients and agencies for professional freelancers engaged as a trusted consultants or the needs of the industrial freelance consultant to achieve and demonstrate a well recognised quality standard, providing wider work opportunities.

Early feedback from the market, suggests that this unique scheme has the potential to change the entire market place in the next five years for both clients and freelancers.

Bureau Veritas has been working closely in its development. This scheme will be launched in the summer.

Richard is the Special Projects Director for the Professional Contractors Group. In addition to general Board level duties, he has specific responsibility for nurturing and developing special projects that range from a driving special ad hoc tasks to major developments such as the PCG's sector specific ISO 9000 scheme for consultants. The PGC (www.pcg.org.uk) has over 11,000 members of which over 60 per cent are IT specialists.
