A technical presentation. Quantum computing offers the hope of massively parallel computation by exploiting fundamental physical processes.

There are several hardware designs that may lead to usable quantum computers, but finding software algorithms is more challenging, and involves quite new ways of thinking about computing and programming.

The talk will endeavour to convey some intuitions and illustrate these in a recent extension to quantum search with an example in message transformation.
