Public service to tranform through technology

  7 March 2006

World Map A conference on mobile government on 23 May will examine how mobile and wireless technologies can be used to the benefit of the public sector.

Key figures from government, projects, local authorities and business will report on their successes to date and their plans to work in the future to make the most of the opportunities available.

Wireless technologies have proved to be hugely useful at the front line of public service delivery in health, transport, criminal justice, social services and education.

In many cases, the proliferation of wireless devices has made office visits obsolete, which has beneficial repercussions: if office space is not needed, then savings can be made.
