Lecture to give lesson on smooth data migration

14 March 2006

Cogs John Morris will describe how to use original and existing tools and techniques to migrate data at a presentation in London on 24 May.

In his talk, John will explain how to competently perform data migration so that it does not spoil or delay implementation of a project, an all too frequent occurrence. John will describe a methodology to manage the process of getting the most appropriate data out of the business and into your new systems.

John will introduce the concept of well formed and ill formed problem domains to illustrate the fundamental issue facing any data centric activity, but especially data migration.
He will then go on to show how to get information often hidden in the enterprise into your project by taking an enterprise-centric approach

After John’s lecture on data migration, delegates will have the chance to put their queries to him in a question and answer session and to buy his book Practical Data Migration.

John has worked for more than 20 years in the IT industry and is the founder-director of iergo, a software and information management consultancy.
Pre-booking is essential, as only 100 places will be available. A discounted rate is available for BCS members.
