BCS USA Section holds regional meeting at Security Conference

WILLINGBORO, N.J. 9 April 2008. The British Computer Society USA Section, held its West Coast Regional Meeting yesterday, April 8th 2008, at the Hilton San Francisco, in conjunction with the RSA Security Conference.

With the Olympic torch arriving at the same time and location, with some 17,000+ delegates expected at the RSA Security Conference and with the focus that the British Computer Society has globally on Security Awareness, the venue could not have been more appropriate.

The guest speaker at the event was Bob Lockhart, President of ExecutiveCSO and a long-time veteran of EDS and IT Outsourcing.  He presented on the subject "Outsourcing Your Sanity", a discussion that highlighted the opportunities, pitfalls and keys to success when addressing the security and privacy implications of outsourcing IT.

Attendees included both BCS Members and guests from the United States, United Kingdom and Spain.

"This is the first time I’ve attended a BCS event." said Daniel Pupius, a Software Engineer at Google. "I didn’t know that there was such a BCS presence in the USA. This is a great networking opportunity... makes membership more valuable now!"

"Our intent with these sessions is to provide our members with networking opportunities, valuable information and contacts, thus bringing additional value from their BCS membership." commented Gavin Grounds, Chairman of the BCS USA Section.

The next BCS meeting will be held on 30 April 2008 in conjunction with the Interop and CSI-SX conferences at the Mandalay Bay Resort.
