Social networking is set to 'take another jump' in popularity with the increasing use of mobile internet.
This is the view of Daniel Chubb, chief executive officer at Dansway Communications and Online Social Media, who said adoption of social media will be boosted by the rise of the smartphone.
'Smartphones will bring billions of impressions that the desktop computer cannot the boost is coming to take things to a whole new level,' he said.
The comments follow the publication of a study by mobile measurement organisation Ground Truth, which showed that social network use accounts for more than half of the time spent on mobile internet connections.
According to the report, people who use 'mobile-specific' networks are more engaged than those who use PC-based models such as Facebook and MySpace when using their smartphones.
Mr Chubb said the trend will see a number of exclusive deals set up between social networks and smartphone providers.
'There will be custom deals made with big brands,' he added.
