About this event

Professional affiliations standards, qualifications, regulation and certifications now play a regular part of the currency for many professions. Though the IT industry has been one of the last to go down this route professional bodies that oversee standards and grant certifications are now well established. Serving the UK in particular are BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). Both of these organisations administer the granting of professional qualifications as well as a host of other professional services on a local, regional and national level.

Many businesses perceive real value in supporting professional affiliation to the BCS and IET and there are signs that the IT industry will move to a more formally regulated basis in the future.

The event provides an opportunity to hear what the IET and BCS offer to local businesses that are consumers or vendors of IT. In particular the value of ICTTech and CITP professional registration to those businesses will be addressed. There will also be speakers from local businesses who are fully engaged with the BCS and IET.

This is an informal event where a buffet lunch is provided and there is an opportunity to network with other IT users and representatives of the institutions. This event will end with a Q&A panel comprising the speakers and other representatives of the institutions. The intended audience is IT managers and HR professionals with an interest in IT staffing.
