Biography
Dr Duncan Westland is the Identity and Passport service's deputy director for indentification technologies. He is responsible for the electronic and physical security of the UK passport.

Synopsis
The talk will explain exactly what the chip in the cover of the new UK passport is for, the information it contains and how cryptography is used to create a secure document. Some of the attacks on the security of the chip which have been reported in the press will be discussed.
