The IT consultancy will host mobile solutions powered by Sybase technologies and offer them on a software-as-a-service (SaaS) and platform-as-a-service (PaaS) basis.

'We believe now is the time to expand into this market in cooperation with SAP and Sybase, leveraging our expertise and knowledge in mobile solutions," Fernando Alvarez, vice president and mobile solutions practice leader at Capgemini, remarked.

He added: 'We are able to offer one of the most complete suites of SAP solutions available on premise or as a service, providing multiple options to meet customers' needs from licensing to implementation, hosting and operation.'

Capgemini will also provide mobile end-to-end solutions to clients via monthly fees that will cover mobility software from SAP, as well as hosting and application support.

Phil Wainwright, vice-chairman of non-profit organisation EuroCloud, recently suggested that cloud implementations are just as suitable for small companies as they are for big ones.
