The changing face of payments

Synopsis:
As technology develops, the demise of cash has long been predicted. The banks had proposed that cheques would be phased out in the UK by 2018 but what will happen now? This talk will provide an introduction to payment systems and discuss current and potential future developments including mobile and internet as well as the impact of non-traditional payment providers. It will also describe some experience elsewhere in the world.

About Tim Lambertstock

Following a successful career in government IT, much of it concerned with payments and financial systems, Tim joined VocaLink (then BACS) in 1999 to lead the vision and strategy for future UK electronic payment systems, a programme that won many awards. He went on to develop new payment and related products and to consult on technical, legislative and market developments in payments around the world. Tim is a Chartered Fellow of the BCS and Chair of Oxfordshire Branch.
