BCS Member wins Outstanding Contribution to the Industry Award

23 December 2011

Liam Newcombe, CTO of Romonet and Secretary of the BCS Data Centre specialist group, has been recognised with the Outstanding Contribution to the Data Centre Industry Award in the DataCenterDynamics World Leaders Awards.

Liam Newcombe was the unanimous choice of the judging panel for his ‘relentless’ contribution of knowledge and expertise to the international data centre and IT communities over the past six years.

His outstanding contribution includes acting as chair of the Best Practice working group within the EU Code of Conduct for data centres, championing energy efficiency in every area of the industry, acting as Secretary and co-founder of the BCS Data Centre specialist group. He was also personally involved in getting UK Government to adopt the code.

Liam Newcombe said, “I’m surprised! I feel that I’ve accepted this Award on behalf of the many people that I’ve worked with on the EU Code of Conduct and CEEDA. From the point of view of the BCS, the people that take my theoretical work and make it something real in data centres make an equally important contribution to this industry.”
