Following the successful application to the Ordnance Survey by Cambridge County Council of their Rights of Way to be exempt from OS Intellectual Property Rights Hampshire followed suit with a streamlined application and were also granted exemption. Having been given this opportunity Hampshire embarked on a programme of work to both improve their existing web mapping solutions and also look to publish their data in a number of formats that could be used by the open data community. At present Hampshire is publishing their data in shapefile and kml formats under the Open Government Licence for which they have received much positive feedback.

What they are hoping to look at next is release more spatial datasets in the same manner and better engage with the community to deliver solutions that previously may not have been achievable without data exemptions and open data licensing.
