An exclusive briefing on 'Belfast a Super Connected City'. Belfast City Council have just received £13.7 million funding to make Belfast one of 10 digital hubs throughout the UK which will drive making Belfast an exemplar in digital inclusion.

The total investment will be nearly £25 million. Council will invest £3 million, as part of their Investment Programme, while the private sector will provide a further £8 million towards the Super-connected Cities Programme. It has the potential to be the catalyst for foreign investment, new jobs and major improvements in quality of life for citizens, with Belfast set to become a world class digital city by 2015.

We have been invited by Project Manager Tommy Barr Belfast City Council to be briefed on the scope of the project, the proposed impact on Belfast as a business center and the benefits it will bring to Belfast citizens.

Tommy states that the challenges now are to implement the correct infrastructure and to ensure that it is exploited fully. A major key to exploiting this potential is ensuring the deliverables are designed and delivered to compliment extensive set of related strategies and projects. In this session, Tommy will look to create a shared understanding of what the project will deliver. He also hopes to garner an understanding of emerging thinking, strategies and projects and how Super-connected Belfast can complement those.

As senior industry leaders Tommy would like your input and comments on the project. He is also keen to hear any suggestions as to how the project could be improved. This project is at an extremely early stage where project scope is still being formalized and therefore this is a unique opportunity for you to provide feedback and possibly influence the outcome. Tommy would hope that participants will take away embryonic ideas around where new potential exists and which of their processes look likely to benefit from review.
