Three qualifications from BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT have been included on the recently published list of qualifications that will count in the Key Stage 4 Performance Tables in 2015. The qualifications are among just 117 that have been selected for inclusion; a reduction from the 2014 list which featured 140 qualifications.
The BCS qualifications included on the list are:
Martyn Lambert, Chief Executive Officer, BCS Learning & Development, part of the Institute says: “We’re delighted that our qualifications have been included in the Department for Education’s performance points listing.
“Their inclusion reinforces the message that these qualifications are not only rigorous but they also provide the majority of students with access to a range of future study and employment opportunities. Gaining digital skills is vital today, if you want to be able to compete for a job. Almost every role has some reliance on technology and the most jobs require the ability to navigate around a PC or tablet as a minimum.”
Earlier this year, the Institute reported a sharp growth* in the number of people taking its digital literacy qualifications in the last year. To date over two million people in the UK have learned IT skills and demonstrated them via ECDL.
Susy Ralph of the City of London Schools comments: ‘We believe ECDL is the industry standard ICT qualification. Feedback from our school leavers also confirms the positive status accorded to the ECDL qualification by universities.'
