The Digital Economy: it will not go away

The term 'digital economy' was first used to label the activity in ICT-related sectors.

Now that the digital infrastructure has moved to centre-stage the qualifier 'digital' is redundant - a bit like talking about 'the real economy' - and there is no 'non-digital' economy of any great substance.

In this editorial we offer four factors - Fitness, Balance, Hassle and Disruption - to guide academics in their search for New Economic Models.
