Developing software for Smart phones is one of the growth areas in computing, particularly with the explosion of 'apps' within the Android, Microsoft and Apple App market places. The Apps market spaces enable just about anyone to develop interesting mobile applications and sell them directly to customers. The session will cover an overview of the Apps development market space, then some of the basics of app development using the Apple development environment. It will be a hands on session where participants will be engaged in developing and app within a simulator and running the app on iPhone/iPad devices.

Dr Carl Adams is a Principal Lecturer within the School of Computing, where he is an active researcher in mobile and electronic commerce and runs the Mobile Development lab. Carl has published over 100 research papers, much based around mobile technologies and mobile commerce.
