'Big data' centre in healthcare

07/06/2013

Hitachi has launched a ‘big data’ centre - as opposed to a big data-centre - in the UK, with a focus on healthcare.

As more organisations jump on the big data bandwagon, Hitachi says it is ‘focusing more than ever on the Social Innovation Business.’

The new Hitachi Global Center for Innovative Analytics (HGC-IA) aims to provide their customers with ‘innovative solutions that leverage the power of big data’. This will link Hitachi operating units and local researchers and engineers located in the US, the UK, Japan and other regions around the globe, which have already seen big data-oriented labs launched.

In 2012 Hitachi launched their ‘Smart Business Innovation Laboratory’ focusing on data analytics, and the Big Data Research Laboratory in the US followed in April 2013; which consists of specialists in data analytics, marketing and research.

The HGC-IA coordinate and integrate activities between the US Big Data Research Laboratory and others. The Europe Big Data Research Laboratory with the focus of health care is the part that has been established in the UK from June 1, 2013.
