Speaker:

Jim Reeves, Technical Consultant Specialist (TCS) - Shaping and Tooling in the Digital Products Group at Ordnance Survey.

Event details:

The fabric of software development is changing rapidly with the fast emergence of a variety of SaaS and PaaS offerings.

This has meant that smaller firms and “starts up” can leverage far power in the tools they use and the systems and platforms that are available to them and can compete quickly and in many cases cheaper than established firms.

For a larger organisation that is subject to stringent legislation and has a legacy culture of supporting a large bulk of their tooling in house behind locked down data centres Digital Products Group (a part of Ordnance Survey) has had to change the way it does it’s development and embrace a similar culture.

Talk to cover the following topics:

  • Intro to Digital Products Group
  • Legacy Issues
  • Approaching change
  • Where we are and what next
  • Q & A

Jim Reeves is currently the Technical Consultant Specialist (TCS) - Shaping and Tooling in the Digital Products Group at Ordnance Survey.
