Joint meeting with BCS Hampshire Branch and Southampton Solent University

Speaker:

John Noden, Managing Director/Executive Director Technical Design, Zentive EMEA

Event details:

John Noden discusses why a lot of the pundits in the Computer Industry were wrong in predicting the demise of the mainframe. He will explain why this was not the case.

The IBM Mid-range has, however, been more problematical. He will explain why this is and what can be done. John will describe the architecture that Zentive has developed to efficiently open up the iSeries.

Finally he will discuss; is there a future for languages such as COBOL, PL/1 and RPG and what to do about the vast amount of COBOL and RPG still out there?
