BCS announces CITP agreement with IBM

BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT has signed a new agreement with IBM. The agreement sees the IBM professional certifications awarded to its IT Architects and IT Specialists recognised towards the award of Chartered IT Professional (CITP) status.

CITP status - the benchmark of IT excellence - provides independent verification of skills and competence, as well as professionalism, leadership and management capabilities. The Register of Chartered IT Professionals is maintained and published by BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT.

Jeremy Barlow, Director of Standards at BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT says: “We are really pleased to be working with IBM to accredit their IT Architects and IT Specialists. The alignment of IBM’s certifications with CITP is key step in establishing the standard as a benchmark for the IT profession.”

The CITP standard has been developed in consultation with public and private sector employers and the academic community. Holding CITP status reflects integrity, professionalism and dedication. Those reaching this status are recognised in a formal listing of Chartered IT Professionals on a register available to employers and clients - via the BCS website.

BCS supports IT professionals throughout their careers, helping them to demonstrate, maintain and develop their competence and knowledge.
