BCS MP Website Awards

Houses of Parliament

IT is now integral to successful parliamentary communication and public engagement.

That is why the British Computer Society created the BCS MP Website Awards to annually recognise the best MP sites in three categories:

Design, Engagement and Accessibility.

There is also an award for the MP whose website is selected as overall winner and which combines the very best of design, and the latest in integrated communications technology, presentation and content.

The 2008 BCS MP Website Awards were presented at the House of Commons; a video of comments from judges and students can be viewed below.

Press release

According to a survey* by the British Computer Society (BCS) only 7% of British adults have looked at their MP's website and only 46% know the name of their MP. This contrasts sharply with the level of public interaction generated through social networking sites and the internet in the recent US presidential race.
