  • Nurses' decision making and new technologies: research report

    The final report of a recent Department of Health funded study into nurses' use of new technologies to support decision making is now available. It suggests that "only limited evidence exists to support the use of CDSS [computerised decision support systems] for improving patient outcomes", that nurses will often over-ride system recommendations if they do not fit local clinical practices, and that few NHS Trusts formally evaluated the systems before their introduction, making any potential benefits difficult to measure. The recommendations of the study include a call for appropriate evaluation before large scale implementations. [Read more]
