As I mentioned a few postings ago, I was involved in the recording recently of a BCS debate about the future of e-learning and instructor-led (I hate that expression!) training and as part of that debate, we talked about whether it would be possible to use twitter to deliver learning.

Well, someone is planning to do just that. http://www.roughtype.com/archives/2009/04/twitter_u.php

As you will see from the video, when it is published, I am not a fan of the old e-learning but like the idea of using technology to support learning (note the difference between technology supported learning and e-learning). The learning can be delivered in a variety of ways, including online or face-to-face, but to deliver the whole of a curriculum via twitter, well what twit thought that one up?

Is it me, or are we still focusing on the technology and not the learners? Is it just a gimmick or do you really feel that this is achievable? Perhaps I am just being an old fogey but I still believe that our human brains were designed for human interaction and that to replace that totally with technology is a mistake. Perhaps in another million or so years, when we have evolved into nothing more than technological plug-ins ourselves, it will work, but right here ... right now?
