You may remember a few weeks ago when I told you that I was involved in recording a video debate about the benefits of e-learning versus classroom-based learning. Well, the first part of the video is now available to view. http://www.bcs.org/server.php?show=ConWebDoc.25708
Of course, the debate was very professional but we did disagree about some issues, with the e-learning side of the debate believing that almost anything that can be achieved face to face can be achieved via technology, whilst Samantha Kinstrey and I were, as you may imagine, just a bit more sceptical that it is possible for technology to replace human beings.
I will leave you to watch the first bit and let me have your thoughts before I pre-empt the other 'episodes' with more comment.
Just one thing - guess who got the last word? Well, on this episode anyway.

Leave CommentMy guess was wrong: An interesting debate though: Highlighted a major issue though of who trains the trainers and how (no really picked up on as yet): My experience of E learning so far is in lots of cases that the presenters (or just their voices) are just reading a script and no real enthusiasm generated, hence messages not getting across properly and would probably laern more from just reading an instruction manual.

I read somewhere that 70% of communication is via body language - I don't how you get that via a computer. I believe strongly what classroom based training is miles and miles better than computer based training. Billy Gee http://www.trainingconnection.com
