More than half of information security professionals (53 per cent) believe that it is unlikely they will see further cuts to technology security budgets in the rest of the year.
That's according to a new survey from (ISC)2, the globally recognised standard for certifying information security professionals.
The organisation's poll also revealed that 52 per cent of members did not think that there would be additional workforce reductions for the remainder of 2009, although around half said at least one round of redundancies had taken place in recent months.
On the executive side, 43 per cent of managers said they would be recruiting information security professionals this year and 50.6 per cent of budget managers added that they would not be making spending cuts.
John Colley, managing director of (ISC)2 Europe, said: 'While we are being affected, generally information security is a profession that is weathering the recession well as companies continue to recognise that security competency is both a business imperative and a means to achieving cost-cutting operational changes.
'(ISC)2 is dedicated to helping our members throughout their careers, and that includes during challenging economic times.'
