A new manifesto put together by a group of technology experts has called for the creation of more IT jobs to lift the UK out of recession.
Making Britain Great Again was launched by Micro Focus and representatives from the House of Lords.
It insists that 250,000 IT positions need to be introduced during the next ten years to help the UK recover following the recession.
The paper suggests that the potential of the IT industry can be increased by entrepreneurs being encouraged as well as more obvious connections between industry and academia being made.
Stephen Kelly, Micro Focus chief executive officer, said that the UK has debt and a deteriorating industry.
'Now more than ever is the time for business, politics and academia to create more UK jobs by joining forces to implement a plan which fosters talent, encourages fiscal support and inward investment to produce a world class IP-rich technology industry which can truly make Britain great again.'
Meanwhile, Lloyds Banking Group has announced it is cutting 370 contractor roles, most of which are in IT.
