UK workforce will be 'increasingly mobile' by 2012

19/10/2009

The workforce in the UK will become increasingly efficient and flexible through mobile working, a communications expert has claimed.

According to Damovo UK, more people are expected to and want to work flexibly as communication occurs via email, SMS and social networks.

Increasing numbers of workers are recognising the potential of these channels and want to deploy them in the corporate environment, the company explained.

Alex Donnelly, portfolio manager at Damovo UK, said that there are numerous innovations in technology and communications emerging all the time.

'The key to any mobile strategy is to support a defined common number of platforms and have appropriate device management applications in place to [provide] remote support, deploy and manage these users over the air,' he explained.

A previous study undertaken by Nielsen revealed that the number of web visitors using a mobile device increased by 34 per cent between July 2009 and the same month last year.

The number went up from 42.5 million to 56.9 million during the 12-month period.
