BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, is calling for individuals and organisations to submit material and content for HC2010, the UK's leading health informatics conference and exhibition next April.
HC2010 will take place from the 27-29 April at the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Birmingham and will feature a range of events and opportunities for health and social care professionals, commercial organisations and other major stakeholders in the field of health informatics.
'The event in 2010 will build significantly on the success of previous years, maintaining its presence as the most powerful and rewarding place for professionals from all walks of life to see demonstrations of best practice; review leading edge technology; and keep up-to-date with current research. This year we are making Quality, Innovation & Productivity our main theme, with a major focus on how Informatics can directly and most effectively support operational health and social care services,' said Mike Sinclair, chair of the organising committee.
Stream topics at HC2010 will be:
The categories for submission are:
Papers: A platform of original research, reviews, applications, analysis or designs relating to one or more conference topics.
Panel sessions: An interactive debate with a minimum of three panellists.
Themed tutorial, workshop or debates: This content must be educational and delivered professionally to inform delegates of new technologies and organisational perspectives.
Poster displays: Displayed throughout the conference, these would demonstrate the author's work and will require them to be present at the display at scheduled times.
Submissions must be largely non-commercial, only citing products or services to help facilitate the discussion. Each submission will be peer reviewed by two referees. The organiser of the accepted submission can attend the conference free of charge for the day of their presentation. The paper will also be published on the dedicated HC2010 website and www.bcs.org.

This year ASSIST (The Association for Informatics Professionals in Health and Social Care) will run its Annual Conference alongside HC2010. In addition to the usual representations from BCS health groups, there will be strong international contribution.
