A new partnership formed by two IT security specialists could benefit a number of organisations in the UK.

Internet security market leader SmoothWall has collaborated with malware analysis giant Sunbelt Software to create a new security solution.

The deal will see a new security product created using both firms' 'best of breed' solutions.

Initially, the partnership will see Sunbelt's award-winning anti-malware product VIPRE® and its ThreatTrack data feeds added to SmoothWall's Guardian web filter.

According to SmoothWall, the combined effort will be 'refreshingly light' on system resources and will offer organisations 'exceptional' threat detection.

George Lungley, the firm's managing director, said: 'The integration of VIPRE®, as an exciting, market-leading solution will significantly boost malware and virus protection for our customers.

'We will be able to offer users fast, powerful and intelligent web and threat management in one unified solution.'
