ISEB Foundation Certificate in Green IT

Woman using a laptop

The BCS is widely involved with various Green initiatives across the Society, including programmes developed by the BCS Ethics Forum, the Carbon Footprint Working Group, and the Data Centre Specialist Group. Recently, as part of our ongoing commitment to the understanding of the environmental issues associated with IT, the BCS has developed a Foundation Certificate in Green IT.

The BCS is enabling organisations to take the right approach to the environment. We want to empower decision-makers with the knowledge required to be able to meet environmental issues proactively. Solutions can then be developed which are both cost-effective for their organisation and resource-conscious for us all.

The certificate is suitable for those who require a broad understanding of the subject matter and need an appreciation of what Green IT can do for them and their organisation. This could be the across the whole organisation right the way up to senior management. The certificate is also suitable for those who subsequently pursue specialised topic areas in more detail.

The ISEB Foundation Certificate in Green IT is designed for anyone interested in or affected by issues surrounding Green IT.  The qualification will provide candidates with a broad understanding of the regulations, legislation and policies, carbon energy accounting and how to create a green IT strategy. This knowledge will clearly be of benefit to any organisation in the current competitive and cost conscious environment.
