This page describes the types of accreditation that are available.
Accreditation means that a candidate has fulfilled the academic requirement for registration as a Chartered IT Professional (CITP) and/or Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (CEng/IEng) and/or a Chartered Scientist (CSci).
The types of accreditation available are:
- Full CITP accreditation - the exemplifying academic qualification for full CITP accreditation is an accredited honours degree in the computing field together with further learning beyond graduation.
- CITP Further Learning Element - a specialist or integrated masters degree may be accredited as satisfying the Further Learning requirements for CITP
- Accredited as partially meeting the educational requirement for CITP accreditation - a joint honours and a generalist masters degree may be accredited as contributing to the academic requirements for CITP
- Full CEng accreditation - the exemplifying academic qualification for full CEng accreditation is an accredited honours degree, plus either an appropriate specialist masters degree accredited or approved by a professional engineering institution, or appropriate further learning to Masters level or an accredited integrated masters degree
- Accredited as partially meeting the educational requirement for CEng registration - a BSc/BEng Honours degree may be accredited as contributing to the academic requirements for CEng. A specialist masters degree may be accredited as further learning for CEng registration
- Full CSci accreditation - the exemplifying academic qualification for full CSci accreditation is an accredited honours degree, plus either an appropriate specialist Masters degree accredited or approved by a professional institution, or appropriate further learning to Masters level or an accredited integrated masters degree
- Accredited as partially meeting the educational requirement for CSci registration - a BSc/BEng honours degree may be accredited as contributing to the academic requirements for CSci. A specialist masters degree may be accredited as further learning for CSci registration.
- Full IEng accreditation - the exemplifying academic qualification for full IEng accreditation is an accredited bachelors or honours degree
- Accredited as partially meeting the educational requirement for IEng registration - a Foundation Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) may be accredited as contributing to the academic requirements for IEng
