The contributions to the education strand of the conference fell into three distinct but related parts:

1. an initial presentation covering a range of issues related to the current challenges (see section 1);
2. a presentation on a proposed HEFCE funded project (see section 2);
3. three separate reports from break-out sessions (see sections 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3), covering:
   
   
   • a review of the existing challenges; questions to be asked including:
     
     • do these need to be refined or changed?
     • are there new challenges that need to be identified?
   • providing an opportunity for individuals to consider projects and proposals to underpin the HEFCE bid;
   • what will the computing curriculum look like in the year 2015?

It had been felt that this structure would provide opportunities for insights into the original challenges and into possible ways of addressing these.
