Lovelace Medal

The BCS Lovelace Medal recognises people who have made exceptional contributions to either the understanding and advancement of computing, or to computing education. Winners are presented with a Lovelace Medal, and their contribution and achievements are celebrated at a special event.

Roger Needham Award

The BCS Roger Needham Award recognises individuals with up to 10 years post-doctoral research who have made outstanding contributions in academia or industry. Their achievements advance knowledge, inspire the study of computing, and accelerate innovation.

Honorary Fellowship Award

Honorary Fellowship is awarded to individuals who’ve made an outstanding contribution to BCS, over a considerable length of time, helping us meet our charitable objects.

Distinguished Fellowship Award

This award is given to individuals whose contribution to computing is seen in terms of major importance to the overall development of computing, with substantial personal recognition through peer review over a substantial and sustained career.

Distinguished Dissertations

We are working with the Council of Professors and Heads of Computing (CPHC), the UK Computing Research Committee (UKCRC) and others to review and update the BCS Distinguished Dissertation prize. Applications for this prize are paused whilst we undertake this work.
