"provide a mechanism to coordinate the activities of and facilitate collaboration among Enterprise Architecture related professional organisations, to work toward a better integrated community and 'one face' for the profession of Enterprise Architecture. FEAPO encourages the Enterprise Architecture community to undertake cross-organisational activities to standardise, professionalise, and otherwise advance the discipline of Enterprise Architecture."
Membership will be restricted to non-profit organisations whose members have an active interest in the practice of Enterprise Architecture. Attendees at the meeting included the OMG, The Open Group, the US DoD, the International Standards Organisation, Gartner Inc, Cutter Consortium, MITRE, the British Computer Society, the World CIO Forum, and others.
The initial roadmap for FEAPO looks like this:
- Finalise charter and establish governance procedures for FEAPO and associated working parties.
- Create a business plan. Establish a clear value proposition to practitioners, associations and clients
- Create a strategy for prospective member 'outreach'
- Create a membership ethics policy (or 'code of conduct')
MITRE, Gartner, Forrester, and Cutter are functioning as external advisors during the startup process and input is also being provided from the US Office of the Federal Chief Enterprise Architect, The US National Defence University, and US Federal CIOs.
The discipline of Enterprise Architecture is at a critical juncture and the communication and collaboration opportunities that FEAPO will offer is crucial to the continued maturation of the profession.
