Is it for me?

You're ready to apply for FEDIP registration if you:
  • work in a professional informatics role using data and technology to support health and care delivery
  • perform a range of activities including complex and non-routine tasks
  • understand how your role impacts upon patient care
  • demonstrate quality and integrity in your work

What are the requirements?

  • You're assessed against the criteria set out in the FEDIP standard
  • You need to be a member of a professional body licenced to award FEDIP:
    • BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT
    • Institute of Health Records and Information Management (IHRIM)
    • Chartered Institute of Librarians and Information Professionals (CILIP)
    • Association of Professional Healthcare Analysts (APHA)

How to apply

To apply for FEDIP registration you need to provide written evidence of your knowledge and competence, which we will assess against the professional competence (P1-P9) and context (C1-C6) criteria set out in the FEDIP standard.

Our candidate guidance will help you to compile your evidence statements.

You'll also need a supporter to review your application - they should be working at your level or above, and be able to verify your skills and experience.


Choose your level of registration

The level at which you register for FEDIP will depend on your informatics experience, your role and responsibilities. To join the FEDIP register through BCS, you also need to be a BCS member at the appropriate membership grade.
