Mapping Service and System Dependencies using the CMDB

Thursday 8th March 2007.

Venue: BCS London Offices (PDF)

A fully populated CMDB is one of the holy grails of service management – mainly because it requires business and technical knowledge to be combined. The benefits are well understood (more consistent change management, easy maintenance of recovery plans, faster root cause analysis, better service management reporting) but actually delivering a working system is not so easy. In this interactive session, practical aspects of mapping IT services to the underlying components will be covered, along with discussion on the suitability of integrated service desks as the CMDB repository.
