The key theme of the event is to hear how SFIA, CPD and Professionalism are being combined by ITSM leading member organisations - primarily the itSMF.

Organising your processes and technology via best practice ITSM is a well-known (if difficult to implement) business activity to improve one’s IT Services but shouldn’t you and your people also seek to CSI - Continually Self Improve?

In the third event from the SMSG covering Learning and Development we aim to show what is beyond simply getting some ITIL certification and how to advance even when you have BSc and MSc level education. How, as perhaps a manager and resource professional, you can provide a development framework for your team that fits in with their industry but also maps to and expands them to wider business and soft skills.

This event is aimed at the widest range of IT and HR professionals to hopefully showcase and inspire the benefits of professional development.

The SMSG always aim to record the audio and publish the slides as PDF on our website after the event.

We are looking to trial stream the event as well - details to follow, but currently only physical attendees can receive a CPD certificate.

Speaker Bios

Matthew Burrows - Director for BSMImpact Ltd, specialises in Service Management and Transformation. He has served on numerous industry bodies, including the itSMF UK Management Board, the SFIA Council, and the Global priSM Institute Advisory Committee. An acknowledged best practice expert and thought leadership contributor, Matthew’s day job is as the managing director and an active consultant/practitioner at BSM impact Limited, a SFIA Accredited Partner working with organizations to deliver successful transformation and maximize the value of a Business Service Management approach.

Michelle Hales - Michelle is ConnectSphere's Training Director and IT Service Management Consultant. She has 20 years experience within the retail sector and over fifteen years service management experience. Her roles have been within the senior leadership team including representing IT at board level and managing large operational support teams. Michelle has represented the itSMF Regional groups as vice chair and has been a member of the itSMF marketing sub committee. She reviewed the BSI Code of Practice on IT Service Management that won an itSMF award in 1999. Michelle was project manager for an initiative to establish change management practices. The project was short listed by the itSMF for Project of the Year 2001. She has contributed to the ITIL V3 Service Transition book, and subsequent industry training, including the writing of foundation practice questions for, and reviewing the OGC’s revision aids. Michelle has spoken at many events on service management including the itSMF conference.
