Martin Thompson, ITSM Review and Stuart Rance, ITSM Consultant and Evangelist

In todays connected, online world there are plenty of vendor and reseller sites offering excellent, but naturally proprietary, advice and guidance on IT service management (ITSM). Just like the SMSG, the online editorial site “The ITSM Review” seeks to provide a platform for everyone in the ITSM community to get involved in improving ITSM. Having grown as a publication via word of mouth and social sharing, there is a real social media feel to The ITSM Review as well as traditional journalism. This is why the SMSG has invited them along to delve into the benefits of open discourse in IT.

Our key speaker of the evening is Martin Thompson who founded The ITSM Review in August 2011 to provide an independent, unbiased view of the ITSM market.

On the evening Martin, along with ITSM Review contributors including an SMSG favourite Mr Stuart Rance, will discuss their views on ITSM knowledge "sharing" and commentary, covering - what they get out of it and what they hope others will too. In addition, they will be discussing how they see ITSM developing via social media over the coming years. The evening will also be open to participation from the audience – to ask questions and share opinions.

To ensure a lively debate, we ask that all members of SMSG and participants email any questions that you would like to see answered across the evening to SMSG Chair Brian Scott and The ITSM Review Marketing and Community Manager, Sophie Danby.

Speaker Biographies:

Martin Thompson
Martin first started working within the IT Asset Management field in 2000 selling audit and inventory products and services. Prior to setting up The ITAM Review and The ITSM Review he held channel sales, direct sales and business development roles with software vendors and consulting companies including: CA, Centennial Software and FrontRange Solutions.

When not running The ITAM Review and The ITSM Review he can usually be found looking after his young family, fiddling with the Internet, exploring the Wiltshire countryside, drinking too much filter coffee and listening to endless progressive trance.
