A talk by Angela Single, Clinical Director, Global Business and Market Development, BT Global Health, and former Chair of the 3 Million Lives Industry Group, on how Assisted Living is set to revolutionise healthcare.

In this comprehensive presentation, Angela will be describing the joys and challenges of adopting telehealth and telecare models, and how they can be used to transform the delivery of care for people with Long Term Conditions. She will outline the potential pitfalls, and how these can be circumvented, and will give her views on the current debate regarding the long-term benefits of Assisted Living.

Angela SingleAngela is BT Global Health’s Clinical Director for Telehealth and Telecare and is a leading industry figure.

Angela started her career as a registered nurse at the Royal London Hospital. After training as a community nurse, she went on to become a senior health service manager of an acute hospital for five years. She was Deputy Chief Nurse at the North Middlesex Hospital, London and completed her Bachelor of Arts Honours in Healthcare Management in 1996.

Angela became Managing Director of the UK’s first telehealth company, Healthwatch in 1999. In 2003 she was appointed as Chief Executive of Choose Independence, a specialist telecare and telehealth consultancy. She was Chair of the Three Million Lives (3ML) Industry Group from January 2012 to September 2013.

She has led the way in developing standards for telecare and telehealth service delivery in the UK, developing the 2009 Code of Practice for the UK’s Telecare Services Association and its 2011 Telehealth Code. Angela is a member of the International Congress of Nursing’s Telenursing Advisory Group. She is currently undertaking a part time Executive MBA at Judge Business School, Cambridge University. She travels extensively advising on the benefits of telecare and telehealth.
